Día de los muertos 2k16

El día de los muertos is a festivity that celebrates the dead. People make altares de muertos dedicated to their loved ones that passed away, and they often go visit them to the cemetery.

On October 26th Foreign Languages celebrated El día de los muertos at Tangamanga University. Everyone had to disguise as a dead famous person from Mexico and bring their tombstone with an epitaph from their character to paste it in a wall called "VIVAN NUESTROS MUERTOS". Freshman and sophomore students worked together with professor Juan Jesús Martínez Rodríguez to create the Altar de muertos and a sketch named "La Cantina" it was dedicated to the 43 students from Ayotzinapa and other famous Mexican people like Frida Kahlo, Selena Quintanilla, Chespirito, La Doña etc.

At the altar the sophomore students explained the rituals that people perform and the elements that, all together form the altar. the sketch was performed by the freshman, each one of them represented a famous character from Mexico, they explained who they were and why were they famous for. It was a funny and very cultural appropriate activity.
